To my teacher of the future,

Next year I would much rather do a standard portfolio than a digital portfolio. In my opinion, a digital portfolio is more work than it is worth. I have spent a countless number of hours working on my web page and it is still far from complete. The work and corrections that need to be made seem almost never ending.

In the beginning of the year, we as students were told that a digital portfolio created and updated throughout the entire year would prevent us from being bombarded with work the final week of school. This as I am learning right now proved wrong, for it is the final week of school and I was just assigned four substantial pieces that need to be written, as well as a number of adjustments that need to be made to my portfolio. The work amount was not decreased, and I am extremely stressed out due to this fact. I am also faced with the issue that this work is preventing me from the diligent studying I need to do for my other finals. For all these reasons and more, I feel a standard portfolio is a better choice for students of our age, especially with the busy schedules we must handle.

In next year’s class I expect that my writing and vocabulary skills will continue to be enhanced. I will be taking the SAT’s next spring and would like my English class to prepare me for this through activities dealing with reading comprehension and vocabulary use. I would also like to be introduced to more classic books that I can relate to and that will teach me about life. This would expand my knowledge even more.

I am going to do many things this summer to help me prepare for the class next year. I will continue to read novels in my spare time, as I have always had a love for reading. I also will be writing constantly, for I enjoy writing creative stories and poetry. By doing all of this as well as using programs to help me prepare for the SAT’s, I am sure that I will be able and ready to continue my study of English next year.

Overall, I am looking forward to my next English class experience. See you in the fall!
